Taquelia Pendleton is the Founder of Broken Silence AVU, a Vicksburg, Mississippi–based organization dedicated to raising awareness about domestic violence, supporting survivors, honoring victims, and empowering individuals to break the silence surrounding abuse.

As a domestic violence survivor herself, Taquelia has transformed personal pain into purpose. Her lived experience fuels her commitment to being a voice for those who may feel unheard, unseen, or afraid to speak. She believes advocacy is more than raising awareness—it is about showing up, standing beside survivors, remembering the lives that have been lost, and creating spaces where healing and hope can begin.

Through Broken Silence AVU, Taquelia leads community outreach and awareness initiatives, including the Annual Purple Parade Walk, memorial tributes for victims of domestic violence, and collaborations with community leaders and local agencies. Her work is centered on bringing people together to educate, remember, support, and inspire change.

In addition to her advocacy, Taquelia is a professional barber and hairstylist who has built her life around serving and uplifting others. Whether behind the chair or within her community, she strives to make people feel seen, valued, and empowered.

Taquelia continues to use her voice and her story to remind survivors that silence does not have to be the end of their story. Through Broken Silence AVU, she stands committed to a simple but powerful message:
